How to practice chord melody style in all chords

In this video I'll show you how to approach your daily chord melody practice so that you can develop the same creative freedom in chord melody style that you have when you are playing single-note melody lines.

Join my upcoming online chord melody workshop in January, 2020!

Learn to play and improvise in chord melody style in this 12-week online group course. Beginners welcome! Through step-by-step creative exercises and my personal coaching, you'll learn to express yourself creatively in chord melody style on the guitar.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • How to arrange any song in chord melody style for totally unaccompanied solo guitar
  • How to IMPROVISE with complete freedom in chord melody style
  • How to see chords all around you when you are soloing so that you can add them to your solo
  • How to use chord melody as an incredible tool for learning about harmony and ear training

Open to everyone - Beginners welcome!

You do not need to be an expert in the IFR method or have any experience at all with chord melody guitar. If you know how to play just one major scale on your guitar (and I'll teach you if you don't), then you already have everything you need to start playing the guitar in chord melody style, which will accelerate every aspect of your guitar playing and your musical ability.

12 weekly video lessons - yours to keep forever

Every week you'll receive a new video lesson that will teach you the next level of our chord melody practice, and you'll be able to keep these lesson videos forever. You can download them so that you have them offline, and even after the course is over you'll have the complete video series in your member's area at our website. The lesson videos are designed for both beginning and advanced guitarists. If you're a beginner to chord melody, I'll show you how to make beautiful music with simple harmonic material that you're going to really enjoy working with. If you're more advanced then we can expand on these concepts and apply them to more sophisticated harmonic material. But we'll all be going through the course together, supporting each other every step of the way.

My own personal coaching and feedback

Each week there will be creative exercises to work on. You can record videos of your practicing and I'll give you my personal coaching and feedback on your playing. I'll help you with both the creative and the technical part of learning to express yourself effortlessly in chord melody style. This private one-on-one coaching is one of the most valuable components of the course because it lets us focus 100% on your own needs and goals. Together we'll make sure that you're on a great path and that you're enjoying every moment of your new chord melody practice. You can send me these videos privately if you don't want anyone else to see them. Or you can share them with the entire group so that you can also get great feedback and creative ideas from other guitarists in the course.

Community interaction, questions and support

The third element in the course is a private Facebook Group where the entire community gets together to share ideas, ask questions and share videos of our practicing. If you don't have Facebook or you don't want to participate in the group that's fine. You can just work on the lessons at your own pace and I'll work with you individually to make sure you're successful. But if you do have Facebook and you want to participate in our group, I think you'll really love it. There's so much interaction that takes place there and it's very inspiring to see the music that all of the other students are creating with the concepts that we're learning together. Our past students have described the course as life changing and we hope you'll join us!
